Trouble playing videos in Windows Media Player (WMP)?
In short this is codec problem.
Question:
What Exactly Is ‘Codec’? Why Would I Ever Need It?
Answer:
“Codec” is a technical name for “compression/decompression”. It also stands for “compressor/decompressor” and “code/decode”. All of these variations mean the same thing: a codec is a computer program that both shrinks large movie files, and makes them playable on your computer. Codec programs are required for your media player to play your downloaded music and movies. Videos on our site are collecded by long period of time ten or more years and “artist” who made those videos are using different compression as the technology advance.
First solution.
My recommended simple solution is to download:
free VLC media player.
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player supporting most audio and video formats (H.264, Ogg, DivX, MKV, TS, MPEG-2, mp3, MPEG-4, aac, …) from files, physical media (DVDs, VCD, Audio-CD), TV capture cards and many network streaming protocols.
It can also convert media files, transcode and act as a streaming server over unicast or multicast and IPv4 or IPv6. It doesn’t need any external codec, program or codec pack to work.
VLC multimedia player will play all videos from our site without a need to install any additional software/codec which can be quite confusing even for the advance user,
Second solution.
We don’t recommend playing videos in Windows Media Player, Real Media Player … If you insist than you need to install a codec pack:
K-Lite Codec Pack Very user-friendly and well tested, K-Lite Codec Pack is loaded with goodies. It will enable you to play all the popular movie formats. K-Lite comes in 4 flavors: Basic, Standard, Full and Mega. If all you need is to be able to play DivX and XviD formats, Basic will do just fine. Standard pack is probably the most popular – it has everything an average user needs to play the most common file formats. Full pack, designed for power users, has even more codecs plus encoding support.
Third solution:
Download one of this free media players.
